INSPIRE | BUILD | MAINTAIN
The client at this lovely Victorian Town house in Falmouth requested a sympathetic restoration of the front garden. Local granite, slate and old bricks were to be used to fit the style of the period. Where there was once an uneven tired looking concrete slab patio, we replaced it with local Delabole slate paving to compliment the slate window ledges. Where the bricks in the old front wall were falling down and the coping stones, made from old cast concrete were crumbling away, we rebuilt the wall using the same old bricks after an initial clean up and replaced the coping stones with reclaimed Cornish granite to match the existing steps and granite detailing of houses of that period.
We extended the step to the new patio and formed a new wall with granite and brick to compliment the existing materials. The entrance to the property is now much more welcoming with granite surrounds next to the steps. We also installed slate paving in front of the wall making the space feel larger, more welcoming and making it easier to maintain.
After the hard landscaping was completed and following a consultation, we planted the new beds with succulents and flowers within a pebble and rock scene. The client was very happy with the overall effect, style and feel to this lovingly restored front garden and it is better now than it ever had been using high quality locally sourced materials with an emphasis on finish.
